The HTC Rhyme is another of those HTC handsets that’s been know about for a while, although was previously known to the community as the HTC Bliss. Styling-wise the Rhyme is very much your typical HTC android powered phone but the colour has meant that many critics have jumped to say that the Rhyme is [...]
The iPhone 4S has certainly had more hype than any other phone this year. With Apple keeping so tight lipped it was left up to the rumor squad to predict if we would indeed get an iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5. Although the iPhone 4S looks just like the iPhone 4 it does have [...]
Following on from our video of the HTC Titan from a few days ago we now have our hands on the HTC Radar. Smaller than the HTC Titan the Radar is a slightly more pocketable 3.8″ but has the same Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system. The HTC Radar is similar to the HTC Mozart [...]
The HTC Titan is currently the companies flagship Windows Phone running Mango. It’s a real monster with a 4.7 inch screen and powered by a 1.5 GHz processor. The size may be a little large for some people but if you are big into media and web browsing on your Smartphone then you are going [...]
Running Gingerbread 2.3, the phone packs Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, a 5mp camera with HD video functionality, and a powerful 1Ghz processor. Xperia active is dust proof and water resistant* and uniquely incorporates wet finger tracking, to ensure the phone works perfectly when either the screen or a user’s fingers are wet. Not [...]
The main selling points of the original Defy were it being shock, water, dust and scratch resistant. This new version of the Defy does most of those however it seems to have lost the shock resistance which is a real shame. That said, it has had an upgrade to its processor, now at 1Ghz which [...]
ZTE are a company that specialise in selling very good-for-your-money phones and the ZTE Libra is another well priced addition to their line-up. ZTE aren’t a well advertised phone maker, in fact, before this review, I hadn’t personally heard of them myself. But I shall definitely be taking a look at their future line-up after [...]
Sony Ericsson seem to be churning out Android phones with impressive frequency and this week we have another, the Xperia ray. Upon first inspection the ‘ray’ looks a bit like a smaller Arc with similar design elements. The thing that really stands about about the ray, though, is the display. Despite it being only a [...]
The ZTE Skate was announced way back in February and has been on sale for a short time as the Monte Carlo on Orange here in the UK and it’s proven to be really popular. The ZTE Skate is the SIM-free version of the same handset and goes on sale shortly. Our review model is [...]
The BlackBerry Torch 9860 has arrived with us and although early days I am pretty impressed. The Torch 9860 is currently the Blackberry with the biggest screen so if media is a main use of your phone then this one may be right up your street.
When Sony Ericsson released their X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro handsets last year they were met with fairly mixed reception. Initially there was a lot of interest the two little devices but as they shipped with Android 1.6 and it became more apparent that updates to later versions of the OS were less and [...]
At £150 on PAYG you get fantastic value for money. Sporting a 4.3 inch touch screen and running Android 2.3.4 the Monte Carlo may not be as well specced as the Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Sensation but there is a massive difference in price. The Monte Carlo is actually the ZTE Skate [...]
The 9900 is Research in Monitions first ‘Bold’ device to sport a capacitive touch screen and with it also being powered by a 1.2GHz processor (not the 1GHz I stupidly say in the video) this thing is a real beast. Running BlackBerry 7, the 9900 is the first of 7 BlackBerry smartphones to launch this [...]
The Evo 3D has been kept under wraps and codenamed the HTC ‘Shooter’ for some time and is HTC’s answer to the only other current 3D device available the LG Optimus 3D. The Evo 3D has a similar specification to the flagship HTC Sensation, adding a parallax layer to the already incredibly detailed 540 x [...]
For those wanting an Android powered handset but needing the speed of text entry that you really only get from a physical QWERTY keyboard, the beTouch E210 may be worth looking at if the price tag, around £220, and the limited spec doesn’t put you off. You can see the full specification below but it’s [...]
With the QWERTY keyboard you might think that the MyTouch was all about productivity but tucked away on the back is an 8 megapixel camera and dual LED flash. Whilst that in itself may not seem too out of the ordinary, thanks to its clever backside illuminated sensor it’s claimed to be “the most advanced [...]
In terms of hardware the X7 looks quite radical for Nokia, the back is extremely curvy while the clipped corners with little grilles make it look quite industrial. It could easily be a prop from the Alien films. It’s a good look though!
The HTC Gratia may not be the newest kid on the block but one that we’ve not yet seen. The Gratia hasn’t seen the same interest and sales volume as other HTC stablemates but it’s still a cute, small and well-built Android phone. In this video we look at the box and packaging before taking [...]
3D is becoming all the rage now and here is the first phone to feature glasses-free 3D, the LG Optimus 3D. Here I’m looking at the phone and accessories. Check out the demo video for more detail.
Samsung’s latest and smallest Android handset to bare the Galaxy name, this is the Samsung Galaxy Mini. There is some stiff competition at the lower end of the market with devices from both Huawei and ZTE having virtually identical specification yet coming in at 40% less cost than the Samsung. Is the Samsung brand and [...]
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo gives you great photos every time thanks to its high-quality 8.1-megapixel camera. And when you want to talk face to face in a video call, there’s a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The main camera lets you take advantage of face recognition, so everyone in the picture is in focus. There’s also [...]
Seems that Android powered smartphones are coming down in price on an almost daily basis and this Vodafone 858 Smart is the cheapest one we’ve looked at yet. Vodafone call it the Smart but it’s made by Huawei as the U8160. It may not have a wonderful specification but it’s currently selling for just £60 [...]
Following on from the HTC Salsa video we had last week, this week we have the HTC ChaCha to unbox and review for you. I’m not sure what HTC’s fascination with dance names is but I believe that the names of these devices came from the internal codenames used for them which just stuck. The [...]
Announced at MWC earlier this year the HTC Salsa is one of HTC’s new feature smartphones. Many were already calling this the ‘Facebook Phone’ and although there is obvious Facebook integration with this device the HTC Salsa, and indeed the ChaCha, are not official Facebook phones. However HTC have integrated Facebook nicely in to these [...]
Motorola say the Atrix is the worlds most powerful Smartphone. With new Android devices being released every month I am not sure how long the Atrix will stay at the top. In fact it may have lost top place already. That said its specs are pretty impressive. With a dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, [...]
Hopefully you saw the Atrix unboxing video I did last week. In that video you would have seen that Motorola kindly sent us the laptop dock as well to include in our review. I said at the time that we would do a separate video of the laptop dock and here it is. If you [...]
HTC’s new flagship device is here at last. The HTC Sensation is a stunning piece of hardware and one that is sure to be a head-turner. My HTC Sensation review is now online for your viewing pleasure!
The Wave 2 is Samsungs 2nd device to hit the market here in the UK running the Korean companies own operating system, Bada but now at version 1.2. I reviewed the original Wave and it got a pretty good review from me apart from my dislike of pricing when it came to Samsungs own app [...]
The Optimus Black was announced back in January and is expected to go on sale sometime in May here in the UK. There are two main draws for the Optimus Black. First of all LG are claiming the prize for the worlds thinnest smartphone. At just 9.2mm there’s no denying that it’s slim but as [...]
The Samsung Galaxy S II (Galaxy S2 or i9100) has to be one of the most eagerly awaited handsets of the year. Last year’s Samsung Galaxy S was hugely popular selling tons of units and really making its mark. The Galaxy S2 is one of only a few handsets around at the moment to have [...]
The Dell Venue Pro was announced quite some time ago and it was all the way back in October that James first had the chance to play with the a sample. For some reason there have been lots of delays for this handset which, as a result, means that it only recently went on sale. [...]
This is the third of HTC’s new handsets to have the ‘S’ monica an upgrade to last years model this is the HTC Wildfire S. The HTC wildfire has been a really successful entry level Android handset for HTC was available on most UK networks and is indeed still on sale now. The HTC Wildfire [...]
Samsung are back with another handset using the Galaxy name, this time the Galaxy Pro. One of just a couple of Android handsets to have a fixed, forward-facing QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard on the Galaxy Pro is quite large, the keys are significantly bigger than the keys on a BlackBerry for example and as a [...]
The nice chaps at DSL Developments kindly sent over a Brodit ProClip for us to test out this week. As I have just recently finished the HTC Incredible S review I thought that device may be a good one to test with a ProClip so that was the one I chose. There are thousands of [...]
The LG Optimus 2X was announced a little while ago and when it went on sale it was the worlds first dual core smartphone. Inside you’ll find nVidia’s Tegra2 chipset running at 1GHz. Obviously last week saw the announcement of the HTC Sensation which also boasts a dual core CPU but at 1.2GHz. It will [...]
We first saw the Nokia E7 late last year but if the rumours are to be believed there have been ongoing issues with manufacturing which has led to a number of delays. However, the E7 has now been made available for pre-order from a number of retailers with stock expected next week.
Acer have done quite well with their Android powered handsets that they sell under the liquid brand. Starting with the Acer Liquid itself about 18 months ago then moving to the Liquid E and then a special edition Liquid E Ferrari model. Overall we’ve been rather impress with the Liquid handsets, they offer great features [...]
I’ve recorded a few videos of the XPERIA Arc already but previously I’ve only been able to look at a prototype build. I few days ago though I was lucky enough to get my hands on the final retail version of the handset and as promised I’ve recorded an unboxing video which you can find [...]
Rumours of a Playstation phone have been circulating for months so it wasn’t too much of a surprise when Sony Ericsson officially announced the XPERIA Play last month at MWC. The Android-powered Play has a large capacitive touchscreen display which, at 4″, is going to be great for both gaming and video play back. There’s [...]
So what’s different about the Desire S? Well it’s pretty similar to the Desire, similar size and same 3.7″ screen. However the Desire S has a forward facing camera and better main camera and more memory. The main difference though is the aluminium unibody design. This is something we first saw on the HTC Legend [...]
Late last year I managed to get my hands on a pre-release version of the Huawei U8800 aka IDEOS X5. As is often the case with these early or pre-release handsets the U8800 we looked at in November had a few software issues which you may have noticed in the original unboxing video I recorded. [...]
Despite it’s mid-range price the Ace offers quite a lot for the money. A 3.5″ HVGA display dominates the front while on the inside you’ll find an 800MHz CPU, 512MB RAM and WiFi supporting wireless n. What sets it apart from the likes of the HTC Wildfire is that the Ace ships with Android 2.2 [...]
Announced at Mobile World congress last month the HTC Incredible S has launched running Android 2.2 but with a promised upgrade to 2.3 coming very soon. The device looks great in black and with it sporting a 4-inch WVGA Super LCD display it is somewhat easier to handle in my opinion than the 4.3 inch [...]
Not actually an unboxing video in the literal sense but thought this was a video worth including as it’s the first look at the Arc. A few weeks ago we got to see the new Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc at MWC and later at a small event in London. James and I were in attendance [...]
Almost a year ago to the day we reviewed the original Palm Pre on the site. Our summary of the handset was that the operating system was great and showed some real innovation and promise for the future but that the Pre was sadly let down by poor hardware. The Pre went on sale initially [...]
Google announced the Nexus S, the follow up to their first own-branded Nexus One phone, a while but here in the UK it started off as an exclusive to the Carphone Warehouse. However, from this week you’ll be able to pick up the Nexus S from a number of other retailers. We got our review [...]
The new HTC 7 Pro only surfaced a few weeks ago but it was the next logical progression for HTC and Windows Phone 7. As with many other HTC handsets that have gone before the ‘Pro’ designation signifies the sliding QWERTY keyboard and just like the HTC Touch Pro 2 the QWERTY keyboard on the [...]
The Samsung Galaxy Tab was announced and released a while ago but it’s been so popular that we’ve actually struggled to get our hands on one to review. However, a few days ago one arrived from Clove Technology for us to take a look at. -Matt
The X8 is the latest in the Xperia range and is the X10′s little brother. Sporting a 3 inch touch screen the Xperia X8 does run Android but at the moment it is only version 1.6 which may influence sales figures to be honest. That said, the X8 does come with some pretty nice specs [...]
The HTC HD7 is the biggest of all the UK Windows Phone 7 devices and although its specs are pretty on par with all the others its 4.3 inch screen will be its selling pint so if you are into media then this may well be the Windows Phone for you. It may well be [...]
Here I have another unboxing for you and this time it is of another Nokia X3 but this one is aptly named the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type, I say aptly simply because it has both a touch screen interface as well as an alphanumerical keypad go boot so you get the best of both [...]
I was lucky enough to be given the new BlackBerry Bold by RIM today for review. The new 9780′s hardware is not that different to its predecessor, the 9700, but we do get a few improvements. First off is the camera, now a 5 megapixel. Next we get a memory upgrade to 512mb. And best [...]
The LG is one of the larger WP7 handsets sporting a 3.8″ WVGA capacitive touchscreen. As with all the other WP7 handsets out there at the moment there’s no user upgradable memory, no memory card slot so you are limited to the 16GB of internal storage which isn’t too bad. -Matt
First we had the Desire. Then came the Desire HD. And finally we get the Desire Z with a completely different form factor to its two brothers. The HTC Desire Z comes sporting a four row sliding QWERTY keyboard which frankly is quite gorgeous. -Matt
The HTC 7 Mozart from Orange is the first Windows Phone 7 device to arrive at the tracyandmatt camp and what a pleasant surprise it was. Out of all the WP7 handsets I used last week at the launch the Mozart is the one I was looking forward too most, as I felt that if [...]
The Nokia N8 is the first Symbian3 handset that we’ve looked at so I am looking forward to trying it out, comparing it to earlier versions of Symbian (I’m still using my C6) and also to other handsets that we have in reviewing at the moment. I think this must also be the first Nokia [...]
The Garmin name is synonymous with GPS and satellite navigation and this new nuvifone M10 couples Asus’s phone expertise with Garmin‘s proven GPS navigation technology. It should make for a formidable integrated navigation device. -Matt
This is the one that Android fans have been dying to get their hands on, the HTC Desire HD. The 4.3 inch, 1GHz, Froyo bad boy of the Android world has had one or two delays with its launch but now that we have a review device this means the final ROM is complete and [...]
Running Android 2.1 and with a 3.5 inch capacitive screen the San Francisco is going to give the general public a taste of the Android OS without breaking the bank. Sure, its specs are not on par with the latest top of the range Android devices from HTC and Samsung but you must remember that [...]
A few weeks ago we were invited to the Huawei IDEOS launch event and managed to get our hands on the new Android device for a brief demo video. We have been impressed with this new little handset from Huawei, not least because it’s the first to ship with Android 2.2, but also because it [...]
As you can imagine I was rather excited when I got a phone call today from RIM to say that they had a Torch review unit in at long last. It seems like ages ago that I was at the launch event where we saw the live stream from the States where the Torch 9800 [...]
The Zylo is available from around £120 SIM-free and from free with a contract. It represents pretty good value for money with 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1, Google Maps, MP4 playback, 3MP camera supporting Geo-tagging and Twitter, Facebook and YouTube clients. -Matt
The Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 is one of those devices that comes with pretty good specs and is extremely good value for money. AT under £150 on PAYG you get Android 2.1 (upgradeable to 2.2), 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack just for starters. -Matt
It has been a wee while since we have had a new Android device from Acer but the Stream is here and its specs are on par with many of the top end handsets from other manufactures. Sporting a 3.7 inch screen and powered by a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor the Stream with Android 2.1 on [...]
Hopefully you will have seen the cool NokiaBox video that we recorded in central London. We were invited to take part in the #NokiaBox event which took place in 4 cities around the world. This ended up being on of the biggest unboxings that we’ve ever done and the first one we’ve done outside in [...]
Well this one was a little bit different. Having been teased by Nokie over the NokiaBox for the past few weeks I was invited to a meeting in London. Little did I know that I would be led to the Millennium Bridge and asked to unbox the Nokia C6 in what is possibly the biggest [...]
The BlackBerry Curve 3G has not changed too much compared to its predecessor, the 8520, but the big difference is the added bonus of 3G. There are also a couple of physical changes. The 9300 now has a chrome bezel similar to the 9700 and its battery cover is also new. No longer smooth but [...]
At under £60 the phone is lacking a few features such as Wi-Fi and 3G but it does offer great social network integration and includes its own Facebook client. -Matt
The Racer is a fairly entry level handset but still has some good features such as Android 2.1, GPS, WiFi and a 2.8″ touchscreen. It’s perhaps not the most attractive looking handset, I’d say it’s a little bit retro but not bad. -Matt
Whilst the Vodafone 845 may have a fairly budget price the features aren’t so skimpy. For starters you’ll find Android 2.1 Eclair as the operating system, 2.8” touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera and a host of other features. It’s good to see a smaller and less-expensive device with Android 2.1 -Matt
The latest incarnation of the Milestone, the XT720 sees Motorola continuing to innovate and stands at the moment as the only smartphone to be capable of outputting video in HD over an HDMI cable, allowing you to watch back the 720p HD footage you recorded on the 8 megapixel camera. -Matt
A few months ago I got my hands on the Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet and we did a little review of the portable media player. This time I’ve got my hands on the Archos 5 Internet Tablet to review. So at this point you may be wondering if I’ve just repeated myself in the [...]
The Nokia X3 has been around for a while now but we constantly get asked about it, possibly because it’s just got the circa £100 on PAYG mark. So we decided we had better get around to unboxing and reviewing it. -Matt
A few weeks ago I managed to get my hands on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and we were able to unbox and review that here on site already. Overall we were impressed with the phone, it’s a bit of a niche device that obviously wont suit everyone but we liked that it kinda [...]
The Nokia 7230 is a compact slider that’s reassuringly well constructed with the right details to make imaging and sharing a natural part of your everyday life. The Nokia 7230 has a compact form, excellent build quality and feels good in your hand. Enjoy the reassuring feel of premium metal elements – with accented details [...]
Yes I know it’s not an unboxing video as such but the demo phone isn’t in a box! Actually this video was quite popular on YouTube so I thought I would add it here along with the unboxing of the Galaxy S. With so many of us now using social media apps I thought would [...]
The Samsung S3370 is part of their Corby range but this new low end touch screen device is now packing 3G so web browsing etc wont be quite as frustrating. As I write this I am not sure how much the Samsung S3370 will retail for but I would imagine it will be inline with [...]
If you haven’t seen the X10 Mini before then you might be surprised at just how small it is. I’m sure that it must be the smallest Android handset out there and among the smallest of any type. Even when you are told how small you don’t really appreciate it until you hold it yourself [...]
Here is the one that thousands of you will have been waiting for; the iPhone 4. I was extremely lucky at getting one of these. I phoned Orange Thursday morning and I think I was the first to get through. A simple process and my upgrade was on its way. This is my first ever [...]
We first Heard about the HTC Wildfire last month and James was lucky enough to be invited to the HTC press briefing and get his hands on the device even getting time to review a preview video. Since then the Wildfire has been gathering interest and many now regard this as being the HTC Desire’s [...]
I commented on it a few times during the video but I have to once again say that the Super AMOLED screen on the Galaxy S is truly stunning, the video and photos don’t do it justice and words certainly cant either. All I can say is that it’s is incredibly bright and colourful and [...]
The Samsung Monte was released a few weeks ago and it’s already getting quite a lot of attention. Samsung have a huge selection of mobiles from entry level sub-£100 handsets all the way up to high-end smartphones such as the S9000 which is due next week. The Monte is a decent looking handset offering a [...]
LG have just added to their popular Viewty range and have introduced the LG Viewty GT aka LG GT405. The Viewty GT has a 3″ touchscreen display and is very much geared for web access and social networking. It includes Google Maps, Search and Mail, Skype, Facebook and Twitter right out of the box. Other [...]
The BlackBerry Pearl is nothing new but the 3G version is and we have been lucky enough to get one prior to the device going on sale. The 9105 also has a brother, the 9100. The 9100 has two letters per key, like we have seen before and the 9105 has three letters per key, [...]
The Streak is a decent looking MID (mobile internet device) although many comment that it looks like a large Blackberry Storm. The spec is also good, 1GHz CPU, 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM and 5″ screen with ‘Gorilla Glass’ which is all but indestructible. Perhaps the only disappointment with the device is that it’s currently shipping [...]
Almost three months have passed since we published our review of the Sony Ericsson Vivaz and now we’ve finally managed to get our hands on the Vivaz Pro. Quite why there has been such a gap between the two devices I’m not sure, they are very similar in design and have identical operating systems. The [...]
The Samsung S8500 Wave offers a stunning specification which enables social networking and rich multimedia to be enjoyed. All applications and media benefit from the Super AMOLED 3.3 inch display which makes the screen come alive. It provides a brighter, clearer and less reflective image and benefits from mDNIe technology. With mDNle (mobile Digital Natural [...]
Back in February of this year HTC announced 4 new handsets at MWC in Barcelona, we’ve already seen and reviewed the first three of those handsets, the HTC Desire, HTC Legend and HTC HD mini. This is the new HTC Smart, the fourth of those handsets to be announced. – Matt
There aren’t too many Windows Mobile handsets being released at the moment but we have seen a few lately. The HD mini follows in the footsteps of its bigger brother, the HD2, and offers a very similar experience albeit within a smaller package. -Matt
The X10 is a large Android powered device and with a 4″ capacitive touchscreen it is of a similar overall size to the Toshiba TG01 or the HTC HD2 although just a little smaller. I believe that it’s currently the largest-screened Android phone available at the moment. -Matt
We managed to get the new unibody HTC Legend – an Android 2.1-based device with the latest HTC Sense interface. Here we have a look at the phone and the interface itself, plus a look at the build and how the battery is inserted – this is a full unboxing, straight from the jiffy bag! [...]
There is perhaps a lot of hype around the HTC Desire so I’m sure we are all hoping that it will live up to our expectations. I’m going to spend the next week using the HTC Desire as my main phone and I will be putting together the full review along the way. – Matt
Last month saw the launch of a few new HTC devices, the HTC Legend being just of of them and it seems that this one will be the first to go on sale. So the Legend review units seem to have started to arrive with various journalists over the past few days and ours arrived [...]
Samsung released the B3410, also known as the CorbyPlus or the Delphi, at the end of last year. It seems to have become a pretty popular pay as you go handset. With it’s sliding QWERTY keyboard and decent size display it seems to be one to appeal to those that send a lot of text [...]
I’ve been trying to get my hands on the Nokia N900 for a while now, many of you have emailed me asking for a review or asking questions about the N900 so we’ve been bugging Nokia for a review model almost daily! So this is not the full retail package but something rather cool and [...]
Acer and formerly Eten are no stranger to Windows Mobile smartphone devices but before the launch of the Acer Liquid (Acer A1) they’d never strayed from the Microsoft platform. The Acer Liquid launched earlier this week and is Acer’s first foray in to the world of Android OS and there’s another first for this handset, [...]
This is another of those eagerly awaited devices, having sold over 1 million units in the US as the Motorola Droid it’s expected to be a big hit here in the UK as the Motorola Milestone. -Matt
The 20-key compact QWERTY of the E55 wasn’t to everyone’s liking so Nokia have now come up with the Nokia E52. The E52 looks almost identical to the E55 but instead of the compact QWERTY offers a standard numeric keypad. -Matt
“Stay on top of life with the Sony Ericsson NaiteT phone. A classic 3G phone designed to help you stay in touch, stay organised – and do a bit for the environment. Its timeless looks include a large 2.2″ LCD display so you can easily see your calendar and contacts. It’s got a decent camera, [...]
LG has been one of the industry’s leading innovators in touchscreen phones since it launched the world’s first full touchscreen phone, PRADA Phone by LG, in January 2007. Since then, the company has achieved great success in the touchscreen devices market by creating an array of handsets designed to meet different consumer needs. For instance, [...]
There’s a raft of new Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets hitting the market at the moment. LG want a piece of the action and have launched the LG GM750. The GM750 is quite similar in form and spec. to the Samsung Omnia Lite that we reviewed a few days ago. It’s strange how LG and Samsung [...]
The original Blackberry Bold, the 9000, has been with us since early 2008 and worldwide its sales have been huge. Can the new Blackberry Bold 9700 carry on the success? – Matt
If you’ve been following closely you’ll know that a few weeks ago I went off to one of the XPERIA X2 launch events in London where I got to play with the handsets as well as speak to some of the nice people from Sony Ericsson. On Friday SE send over a pre-release sample of [...]
We’ve been looking at quite a few of the Samsung Omnia handsets recently from the Omnia Lite a few weeks ago to the Omnia Pro B7330 just last week. So quite a few reviews are already in progress and will start going up next week so this morning I got my hands on the Omnia [...]
Following in the footsteps of the incredibly popular E71 the Nokia E72 aims to be the next evolutionary step for this handset form factor. -Matt
Vodafone announced the 360 a while ago and last week we managed to get our hands on one to review. The Vodafone 360 (aka Samsung H1) is the first LinMo or Linux Mobile handset we’ve seen here at tracyandmatt so it’s an interesting learning curve for us! -Matt
You cant fail to have noticed the news stories and blog posts about the HTC’s new flagship model, the HTC HD2. The HD2 is an excellent handset and despite having a massive 4.3″ screen HTC have managed to put together a package that feels relatively small in your hand and is slim enough to fit [...]
A little over a month ago HTC announced that they would soon launch another Google Android powered handset called the HTC Tattoo. Surprisingly soon after that announcement HTC have launched the Tattoo and we’ve just managed to get our hands on one for review. You can now read my HTC Tattoo Review tracyandmatt.co.uk -Matt
The F900, still showing fairly obvious Eten design characteristics, appears to be Acer’s answer to the popular HTC Touch HD, having virtually the same screen and a similar footprint. Whether or not the F900 can hold its own against the Touch HD we’ll find out over the next few weeks as we test it for [...]
In this video I unbox the T-Mobile G2 Touch, the T-Mobile version of the HTC Hero. The device is available to buy now from T-Mobile. P
I must admit that when I first heard about the LG GD910 Watchphone a few months ago my initial reaction was that it would be nothing more than a gimmick and would have little practical use. However, having managed to get my hands on the Watchphone a few days ago I’ve changed my mind a [...]
While the Sony Ericsson W205 is intended to be entry-level, which becomes apparent when you look at the 1.2″ Display and 1.3MP camera, but there are some features that help to elevate its status a little. For example, there’s the build in FM Radio with RDS and the ability to record the FM radio and [...]
The S312 may be entry level but it still looks the part and has some decent features. We’ll be following up the W205 review with the S312 in a few days time but have a look at the unboxing video below for more details for now. – Matt Sony Ericsson S312 unboxing video
This is one handset that we’ve had repeated requests to unbox and review on site and this week I managed to get my hands on the LG GD900 Crystal. I have to say it’s a great looking handset with an impressive touchscreen display and an equally impressive transparent sliding keypad, hence the Crystal name. – [...]
It has been quite a while since we saw a Windows Mobile device from Toshiba and this, the TG01, looks like being one of the more popular handsets they’ve released. Rumours of the Toshiba TG01 surfaced about 8 months ago but Toshiba put and end to the rumours and speculation by announcing the TG01 officially [...]
Just a quick video for you today. Last week I unboxed a pre-retail version of the HTC Hero which was in a pretty plain box. Thanks to our friends over at Orange we managed to get our hands on the full retail version. – Matt
In this video I unbox the white HTC Hero, the new flagship Android phone from HTC. The HTC Hero is available to buy now from devicewire.com. P
In this video I unbox the Acer M900, the sliding QWERTY equipped high spec Windows Mobile Professional device from Acer. The Acer M900 is available to buy now from eXpansys. P
It was barely a month ago that we were at the HTC Hero launch event and in a very short space of time the HTC Hero has become an extremely hot topic. Yesterday I managed to get my hands on the HTC Hero final hardware and software build so thought I’d run through a quick [...]
The Acer M900 is a similar size to the TP2 and also has a large WVGA (480×800) touch screen display and, perhaps more importantly, a good sized slicing QWERTY keyboard. The M900 is a little cheaper than it’s rival but has a comparable specification so it’s not surprising that we’re being asked whether we think [...]

However this week something else turned up at tracyandmatt towers that I think could be even better! I am of course referring to the eagerly awaited HTC [...]

Although it was only announced a few months ago at MWC, it feels like I’ve been waiting ages to get my hands on the HTC Touch Diamond2. I guess I must just be impatient to replace my original Diamond! – Matt
This is one of the first Dual-SIM Windows Mobile devices to make it to the UK and the first from Acer since acquiring E-Ten last year. The Acer DX900 allows you to have uninterrupted access to two separate phone services, for example; one for business and one personal, or one for calls and another for [...]

There’s even a 3″ Touch Screen on the back to simplify menu navigation [...]
The HTC Touch Viva is one of the latest handsets from HTC within the Touch range. The Viva is actually a fairly entry level. However it does have a reasonable amount of ROM/RAM and also has WiFi. The spec may seem a bit mean, especially in the CPU department, but having used the Viva briefly [...]
The INQ1 is excusive to 3 and was released in the UK in November of last year. A much more affordable phone, aimed at the younger generation, the INQ1 is being sold as “The Social Mobile” with fast access to Facebook, Windows Live Messenger and free Skype-to-Skype calls. This is Tracy’s first unboxing video! – [...]
I know the G1 has been out for a while but I’ve just managed to get my hands on this T-Mobile G1 retail unit to unbox. So far I’d say that the G1 is a decent handset but I’ll be using it more before I make up my mind! – Matt
Despite being fairly old device by Windows Mobile standards the Orbit II remains available on O2 and is still a popular handset which seems to be evident by the number of questions that we get about the handset. We’ve also been asked about the unboxing video so we thought it was time to get our [...]
In this video I unbox the Pantech Matrix Pro, available from AT&T. This Windows Mobile Standard (Smartphone) handset features both a QWERTY slider and a 12 key slider and is a follow up to the Pantech Duo. P

The handset will be available to [...]
The Blackberry Storm 9500 is an interesting looking touch screen device from RIM. Larger and heavier than the other devices in the Blackberry range it does offer a decent amount of memory and fast CPU. Add that to the touchscreen and accelerometer and you have a good combination – many of HTC’s recent devices prove [...]
The Voice Messenger has a candy-bar style form and runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard (Smartphone) so there’s no touchscreen. However, we do get integrated GPS, WiFi and a pretty fast CPU coupled with decent ROM and RAM capacity. The front is gloss black and the back and sides are made of polished silver-grey metal which [...]

In this unboxing video I have a look at the Blackberry 8900 (RIM Javelin) which many people are refering to as the new mini Blackberry Bold and looking at the handset its easy to see why. The 8900 is in fact a new Curve model though. The screen is extremely clear and sharp thanks to [...]
Nokia’s XpressMusic range is doing very well at the moment and this Nokia 5800 seems to be king. The Nokia 5800 in this unboxing video is one of only a few Nokia devices to feature a touchscreen and has very few hardware buttons apart from the regular ‘phone keys’. While targetting music lovers the 5800 [...]
The Data Messenger looks quite similar to the HTC TyTN II and shares the same form factor. But interestingly, despite being released well over a year later than the trusty TyTN II the spec of this handset isn’t much better than the TyTN II. A beautiful 3G smartphone with large touch screen display, full slide-out [...]
Here’s a video unboxing of the android-toting T-Mobile G1 (UK version) in my favourite gadget colour… WHITE! I’ve included the HTC Touch Diamond in the video for size comparisons. P
The HTC Touch HD is another important device for HTC – many claiming it as HTC’s asnwer to the iPhone. It’s glorious WVGA display sets the HD apart from many of it’s competitors and it has the power under the hood to match. HTC Touch HD Review – Matt
The Innov8 is a fairly good looking candybar style handset with a slider that reveals a numeric pad and looks a little like a bigger N95. The screen is a generous 2.8″ QVGA which does make the handset a little more chunky than I would like. Samsung i8510 Innov8 Review – Matt
I’m unboxing two handsets in this video, the Velocity Mobile 83 and the Velocity Mobile 103. Velocity Mobile are fairly new to the Windows Mobile arena. – Matt
The Glofiish X610 is like the V900′s ugly sister, there isn’t a TV tuner in this model but you can still find a built in SiRF StarIII GPS chipset and a reasonably fast CPU. There’s only 64MB or RAM though so it can struggle from time-to-time. Eten Glofiish X610 Review – Matt
Eten have been around for a while and we have seen several devices under the Glofiish brand. However, the V900 it something a bit special as it’s one of a very few devices that has a built in DVB TV tuner that allows you to watch free-to-air digital TV. Unlike some other handsets that I’ve [...]
Yes, I know it’s another one of those not-quite and unboing videos but once again Paul and I managed to get our hands on this early T-Mobile G1 android phones so we thought we would give you a quick video tour of the device while no one from T-Mobile was looking! – Matt
In this unboxing video I show off the Blackberry 9000 Bold before taking a brief look at the O/S. – Matt
Ok, ok so this is another video that isn’t really an unboxing but it is a popular and important video. Paul and I were quite literally the first to get our hands on this production unit at the launch event that we weren’t really meant to have! – Matt
Palm are arguably the pioneer of the PDA right from the original Palm Pilot in the mid-90′s through to today’s Treo Pro. What started off as a modest 512kB PDA has today morphed into a sophisticated multimedia device. No longer a simple PDA, no longer a simple phone. The screen on the Treo Pro is [...]
The Samsung i900 Omnia is another device that seems to be a direct response to the Apple iPhone. It has a large, wide touchscreen and a seeming lack of other hardware buttons. It has proven to be a popular seller for the Samsung. Samsung i900 Omnia review – Matt
Yet another massively popular device from HTC the Touch Pro was deemed by many to be the replacement for the ageing HTC TyTN II. The Touch Pro that you see in this unboxing video was literally one of the first here in the UK and altough it is full retail hardware we had a while [...]
You don’t have to buy a Blackberry or Windows Mobile device to pick up your email these days, most high-end mobile phones have a built in Email client these days. However, if you want to send more than just the odd email you’ll probably want a device with a built-in keyboard. The Nokia E71 is [...]
The iPAQ 914c is another great looking device from HP. The iPAQ 914 is a blackberry-style Windows Mobile device with a fixed full QWERTY keyboard. Typically you would expect a device of this form factor to be a Windows Mobile Standard style Smartphone but in this case HP have included WM 6.1 professional complete with [...]
Not the most well known of manufacturers, Mobile & Wireless Group (MWG) is a Singapore based start-up company founded by the team responsible for O2’s ground-breaking range of PDA-phones. Previous models being the likes of the Atom Life and V, and also the UBiQUiO range most of which we have covered previously. The MWg Zinc [...]
Here’s my unboxing video featuring the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV… the slightly restyled HTC Touch Diamond variant! It’s nice… P
The Celio Redbly may look like a conventional small laptop computer but it is in fact a ‘mobile companion’ – it does in fact connect to a Windows Mobile device either via USB or via Bluetooth to port the small screen of the mobile device to the larger screen on the Redfly. Watch the unboxing [...]
Here’s my unboxing video of the groundbreaking HTC Touch Diamond, complete with furry carpet background! P
The Secret is certainly a good looking phone and one that you’ll probably want to show off to all of your friends. There’s a touchscreen and built in touch panel with haptic feedback, it seems that more and more phones have some element of touch screen action these days. LG KF750 ‘Secret’ review – Matt
We unboxed and reviewed the Nokia N800 some time ago and thought it was quite a cool device but we were unsure who would actually use it. Nokia released this updated version, N810, which included a sliding QWERTY keyboard and newer version of the Linux based OS. As the name intimates, the N810’s primary function [...]
There was a big gap between Windows Mobile device from Toshiba, this being the first since their G900 which, when launched the year earlier, was met with very mixed reviews. This G710 is a Windows Mobile Standard (Smartphone) handset so there’s no touch-screen. There are definite similarities between this and the popular Blackberry devices so [...]
“It’s a busy, trail-blazing life you lead and Atom V with its intelligence and reliability is designed to fit right into it. With the sleek Atom V, you know you’re always on the right track wherever you may find yourself. Thanks to sophisticated inbuilt GPS*, powerful processing and a complete suite of multimedia features including [...]
The HTC Touch Diamond was launched in May 2008 and got instant rave reviews. I still use my HTC Touch Diamond to this day and suspect that, for me, the only handset to knock it off my top spot will be the Diamond2. This was also our first introduction to TouchFlo 3D which you’ll still [...]
The i-mate Ultimate 9502 – a device that promised so much… and delivered so little! Great specs, but poor design and software ultimately let it down (in my eyes)… P
As you can see form this unboxing video the HTC p6500 is a beast of a handset and not one that you’ll be able to easily slide in to your back pocket! The HTC P6500 is aimed at more industrial applications from logistics to warehousing and transportation, this full-featured PDA fits perfectly into any industry. [...]
I must confess I had a bit of a soft spot for the Asus M530W, as did Chris, my podcast co-host! Here I unbox it on video. P
Here’s my video unboxing of the Eten / Glofiish (now Acer!) M800… a sliding QWERTY equipped Pocket PC (Professional) device. Competing with the Kaiser (aka TyTN II) at the time was difficult, but with it’s VGA screen and excellent GPS, it was a decent all round machine. P
Until the launch of the HTC TyTN II back in September 2007, my phone of choice was the Samsung i600. I liked the integrated keyboard and slim form factor but the one thing missing was built in GPS. However, Samsung recently released the i780 which looks like an updated version of the i600 but has [...]
The HP iPAQ 614 was one of those devices that was subject to big launch delays. It was promised on a particualr date only to fail to meet that deadline etc. It was a bit of a chame really as the months of delays meant that those wanting it got fed up with waiting and [...]
Previously known to us as the HTC Pharos, the P3470 was introduced by HTC early in 2008 as a budget GPS enabled Windows Mobile. First impressions are that the device seems quite capable and despite the relatively slow CPU (just 201 mHz) it seems to run along quite smoothly, probably aided by the 128MB of [...]
The i-mate JAMA 101 reminds me of the old i-mate Jam (HTC Magician) and looks like an updated version of that device. It’s small, light and has decent syling. The JAMA 101 is one of the world’s most compact Windows Mobile 6 professional phones. The 2.4″ touch screen is housed in a stylish jet-black rubberised [...]
Neonode isn’t a name that too many people will know but the company has been making Windows CE based handset for some time. The latest Neonode N2 may well look like a childs cyber-pet but is in fact a time touch screen Windows handset. Despite Neonode successfully negotiating deals with mobile operators in India they [...]
Running Windows Mobiel Classic the Mio Digiwalker P560 was a great little PDA for those wanting a neat GPS capable. The 3.5” display gives you increased functionality in dealing with your everyday tasks. View and edit Word and Excel files, view a PowerPoint presentation, all from the palm of your hand. – Matt
Pretty hefty looking the HP iPAQ 214, at first glance, seems a step back to the original iPAQ days. A PDA Device running Windows Mobile 6 Classic, with all of the standard features you would expect from this operating system – Except, no SIM card or telephone support. HP have integrated full wireless and Bluetooth [...]
Here is a video of me unboxing the MWg Atom Life. MWg, formerly known as O2 Asia, released this device exclusively through their investors eXpansys. P
Budget Windows Mobile Professional Device, with masses of storage and surround sound for annoying your fellow bus passengers, a bit bling looking but with a great radio application. MWg bought and rebranded this O2 handset. You can see the full MWg Atom Life review on tracyandmatt.co.uk – Matt
The HTC Touch Cruise is another one of those devices from HTC that everyone seems to be talking about and waiting for. It’s the latest in the line of devices from HTC to bear the Touch monica and to include the TouchFLO software and the extra-sensitive touchscreen. Looking a lot like the HTC Artemis the [...]
Here’s my video of the Benq E72 being unboxed, a tiny candy bar Smartphone. P
The i-mate ULTIMATE 8150 is very similar to the 6150, same size and design with the exception of the screen and keypad – the screen is a little smaller to accomodate the keypad. The i-mate Ultimate 8150 is a 640×480 touch screen device powered by Windows Mobile 6. Complete with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and XGA [...]
First impressions are that the 6150 is a nice looking device and it’s great to see another Windows Mobile phone with a VGA display and the addition of the VGA output is interesting. However, it’s strange how quickly new technology seems to become the norm so the lack of GPS is slightly disappointing. I-Mate released [...]
Here is a video of me unboxing the X600 from Eten / Glofiish (now Acer). P
Here I unbox the original T-Mobile Shadow for the USA, the Windows Mobile Smartphone slider with the 20 key keypad. Superceded by the Shadow II now, this still remains one of my favourite devices of all time! P
Here I unbox the innovative dual slider Pantech Duo… now replaced by the Matrix Pro! This remains unique in that it has the sliding 12 key and sliding QWERTY keypads, and if it only had WiFi and a standard charging connector, I think it would have been a lot more popular! P
The HTC S730 was another BIG device for HTC. Perhaps not to the same scale as the TyTN II or the Touch series – but it’s got to be number 3 in line. It sounds too good to be true really – a candybar phone, a large QWERTY keyboard and the still new Windows Mobile [...]
Here I unbox the 20 key HTC Touch Dual and compare it with the 12 key version. This is a truly excellent handset, that at the time of writing is still yet to be replaced (sadly). The 20 key version was only available outside the UK. P
The HTC Touch Dual was another device that everyone was talking about before Christmas 2007. Thanks to our friends over at Clove Technology we’ve managed to get our hands on one to review. Despite the original Touch having a somewhat limited spec, it sold by the bucket load. When HTC released a new group of [...]
You may remember the adverts on TV, an attractive looking black and silver phone with a built in 5 megapixel digital camera that has a high ISO sensitivity setting for capturing shots in dark conditions. Check out our LG Viewty review to find out what we thought of it! -Matt
E-TEN’s Glofiish X800 was, at the time, one of only a few handsets to have a 480×640 VGA display, fewer still also had built in GPS. E-TEN’s next-generation Glofiish X800 Pocket PC Phone has begun shipping to channel partners around the globe. The X800 is E-TEN’s first handset to support 3.5G HSDPA connectivity for high-speed [...]
The Asus M530w has a full qwerty keyboard and but it’s not a slider. That means it’s fairly big, pocket calculator size, and certainly looks rather geeky. However, for the form factor chosen, it’s making the best of things really. It looks and feels expensive, and the black/silver colour scheme look good, if a little [...]
At the time I recorded this unboxing video the Asus P526 (Asus Pegasus) was one of the few candy-bar style Windows Mobile devices to include GPS, Touchscreen and a phone keypad and seemed to cater for almost everyone. There are a few disapointments though. Firstly there is no built in WiFi nor is there 3G/UMTS [...]
The Samsung i620 took many of its design cues from the popular Samsung i600 and put them in to a small sliding keyboard device. This makes the Samsung i620 a compact and pocketable device. You can find out what we thought of the i620 by reading our Samsung i620 review. – Matt
We decided to take a quick look at the UBiQUiO 401 phone as it’s another of those devices that seems to have gone unnoticed and seems to have fallen well below most peoples radar. We wondered if there was a good reason for this as the 401 is an inexpensive Windows Mobile Smartphone with a [...]
OK, I do realise that the Eten Glofiish M700 is far from being a new device, but it’s one that we didn’t get around to looking at when it was first released and it seems to be one of those devices that, despite its apparent abilities, has been overlooked by many. This was the first [...]
In September 2007 the HTC TyTN II finally went on sale. It was an instant success, most retailers sold out on launch day and were selling pre-allocated stock for weeks later. Even now you can find TyTN II’s for sale at most mobile retailers and on some of the UK networks still carry the handset [...]
The Blackberry Curve was actually the first Blackberry I ever used in anger. I have to confess that I was quite anti-Blackberry at the time, it bugged me that you had to install exepnsive servers and software to use it with Exchange server. Anyway, the Curve was actually quite a nice handset and was the [...]
It may well look like a stormtroopers mobile phone but the O2 Cocoon is actually a well featured mobile. Designed as a life-style device is boasts a large 2Gb of internal storage and has an RDS enabled FM radio. The other cool feature is the external LED display that actually shines through the white case [...]
This was the first time we’d looked at a Sony Ericsson smart device. I know earlier models such as the P900 were popular so it was time to see what all the fuss was about. Alistair reviewed the Sony Ericsson P1i for us in October 2007 – Matt
The Nokia E90 Communicator sets a new standard for productivity whilst away from the office. With features ranging from a 3.2 megapixel camera to HSDPA, the Nokia E90 is the must have device from the world famous Nokia. – Matt
Yes the Orange version of the HTC Touch (HTC P3450 or HTC Elf) was essentially the same as the HTC branded unit but there were a few differences in the OS build which I highlight in this unboxing video. – Matt
The iPAQ 514 is a basic phone but has a number of features that you might expect to find on a higher-end device such as the inclusion of WiFi. This unboxing video is of the iPAQ 514c – the ‘c’ denoting that it has a built in camera. You can read the full HP iPAQ [...]
The Toshiba Portégé G900 was the first Windows Mobile device to break the mold and have a 3″ hi-res 800 x 480 display. Packing a QWERTY keyboard and 520mHz CPU the G900 was a powerhouse device that for some reason just wasn’t particularly popular. It was initially plagued but a nasty bug that prevented the [...]
The HTC P6300 (HTC Panda) was another Windows Mobile device from HTC to have a built in GPS chipset. It was also a larger device that was more like the HTC Alpine and HTC Blueangel. The HTC P6300 had previously been referred to at the HTC Panda and is also available on O2 as the [...]
The Nokia N800 Internet Tablet was a welcome update to the popular, yet under-powered, N770. The N800 features a faster CPU and more RAM and also includes an VGA camera for video with the likes of Skype. We thought that the Nokia N800 was an interesting looking device and wondered if it could work as [...]
The HTC Touch is probably he one device to really put HTC on the mainstream map. Before this point HTC was really only know to Windows Mobile enthusiasts but with the launch of the HTC Touch in June of 2007 HTC almost became a household name overnight and resulted on all of the UK networks [...]
Ok, I know this isn’t technically an unboxing video (that came later) but this was the first time that the HTC Touch had been seen in public. In this video you can see it playing with the TouchFlo user interface. – Matt
Ideal for business and pleasure, the Portégé G500 gives you the best of both worlds. This quality and compact slider phone uses fingerprint technology to protect the data stored on the handset. Combining phone, email, web and an MP3 player on a Windows Mobile® 5.0 operating system, the G500 helps you to stay in touch [...]
Although this Orange version of the Samsung i600 is essentially the same as the vanilla Samsung version both have exactly the same hardware but there are some software differences as, once again, Orange removed MSN messenger from their version and branded the homescreen and icons. Perhaps the biggest problem to face the i600 was the [...]
The Orange E600 was the Orange released version of the HTC S620 and apart from some changes to the ROM, which included Orange removing Windows Messenger this is essentially the same device. When it was first released the E600 was only offered to Orange Business and Corporate customers and although that was almost two years [...]
The O2 XDA Orbit is based on the popular HTC Artemis platform, one of the first more mainstream devices to have built in GPS a fact exploited by O2 with the inclusion of CoPilot in the bundle. We went on to review the O2 Orbit in June of 2007 – Matt
The Orange E650 and the HTC S710 may both be HTC Vox devices but there are some minor differences between the two. Have a closer look at this unboxing video to find out more. – Matt
News of the HTC Advantage X7500 (HTC Athena) leaked out a few months before the device finally found its way on to the market here in the UK. This unboxing video is of a pre-release unit but the final product was identical to this. The original Windows Mobile 5.0 OS was updated in models sold [...]
This unboxing video was our first look at the Nokia N95 and in fact we were among the first here in the UK to get our hands on this Symbian based mobile. Although the N95 has now been replaced by the N96 the N95 remains popular despite early teething problems with the ROM that caused [...]
The Samsung i600 (Samsung Blackjack) was a popular handset back in 2007 and while it’s somewhat long in the tooth now it can still be purchased for a bargain price from a number of online retailers. Initally launched with Windows Mobile 5.0 Samsung made a Window Mobile 6.0 update available a few months later. Matt
Here I unbox the T-Mobile Ameo, also known as the HTC Advantage / Athena! P
The HTC Rhyme is another of those HTC handsets that’s been know about for a while, although was previously known to the community as the HTC Bliss. Styling-wise the Rhyme is very much your typical HTC android powered phone but the colour has meant that many critics have jumped to say that the Rhyme is ‘too girly’ for the mass market. Personally I’m not convinced that’s true. Having had the Rhyme in my hand I think the colour is quite nice and I have no problem with it at all.
