We’ve got out hands on the entry-level 11-inch model with 64GB SSD, 2GB RAM and 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 CPU. I’ve only had a chance to use the Air briefly, as it arrived from Apple yesterday, but so far I am really impressed with the performance. While it’s obviously not as quick as my top-of-the-range MacBook Pro the Air is still certainly no slouch and in terms of day-to-day web browsing, email and word processing there’s no problems at all.

We have known about the Motorola XOOM for quite a while now and it has even been on sale in the USA for some time. Not only can you now buy it here in the UK but Motorola kindly sent me one to review.

Being an iPad user myself I was rather excited to test our Android 3.0 Honeycomb on the XOOM. The whole experience is very different to the iPad with various home screen widgets available which clearly you can not use on the iPad.

Unless you have been living in a cave for the past week you’ll know that the iPad 2 went on sale in another 25 countries yesterday, including the UK. It you’ve been following us on twitter you may have seen our tweets from yesterday where Tracy and I were waiting in line for just over 4 hours to collect our iPad 2′s from the Cambridge Apple shop.

Archos 101 Internet Tablet unboxing

The Archos 101 is a much anticipated Android tablet. Whilst Samsung occupy the high end of the market with the £500 Galaxy Tab and an endless slew of cheap and nasty tablets invade from every other company looking to make a buck Archos focuses on a mid-range that is going to appeal to the majority.

The 101 is named as such due to it’s huge WXVGA 10.1″ LCD screen. the device boast quite an eye catching spec list including a front facing webcam, Android 2.2 Froyo (not implemented yet), 1ghz processor, 3D openGL, 8 or 16gb on-board storage, video and audio codecs for pretty much everything and a handy kickstand.

Toshiba Mini NB250 netbook unboxing video

We are looking here at the Toshiba Mini NB250. This one has been on the market for a little while but as the price has now come down a little this appears to be, on the face of it, a good value netbook. With a run-time of 8.7 hours (claimed) it could be ideal for students.

Eken M001 Android tablet unboxing video

Running Android 1.6 with a 7″ Touchscreen, 128MB ram and SD card support the Eken M001 seems like a decent toy for the £100 mark, about a quarter of the price of the iPad for example.

Should Apple be scared? Er, definitely not but there are several manufacturers out there now offering alternatives so we decided to check this one out.

Dell Streak unboxing video

The Streak is a decent looking MID (mobile internet device) although many comment that it looks like a large Blackberry Storm. The spec is also good, 1GHz CPU, 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM and 5″ screen with ‘Gorilla Glass’ which is all but indestructible. Perhaps the only disappointment with the device is that it’s currently shipping with Android 1.6 rather than 2.1 or even 2.2. However, we’re told that later it will ship with 2.1 and there will be a free upgrade for existing customers very soon.

The iPad, like many Apple products, seems to be falling in to the Marmite category, either you love it or hate it. After just a few hours using the iPad I can tell you that I am definitely in the love it camp! I’m pretty sure that the iPad will be one of those pieces of technology that will never be far from my side.
