We’ve looked at several Lumix models in the past but this FX500 is one of the higher models from Panasonic. Features include 10MP sensor, 25mm wide angle lens, 5x optical zoom, face chaser, smile sensor, steady shot – the list goes on! There’s even a 3″ Touch Screen on the back to simplify menu navigation and to provide a decent photo preview.

Last year I started looking for a new and inexpensive digital camcorder to replace the DVD camcorder that I’d been using to record our unboxing videos. I was surprised that there was a lack of direct comparisons between many of the leading models so I decided I would carry out my own group test on several cameras from the same price bracket and see which one was the best!

The Panasonic SDR-S7 is possibly one of the smallest camcorders I have ever seen. Everything about it is tiny which makes it look like the whole thing has been scaled down to child size. The S7 is extremely light and has a half decent spec but really does struggle to keep up with some of the bigger models.

This Limix DMC-TZ4, is one of a new breed of digital compact cameras hitting the market with a massive 10x optical zoom (28 – 280mm).

There is something of a compromise associated with the excepional zoom though, the TZ4 isn’t the most compact of compact cameras and is also a little heavy. I’d say it’s on the limit of what I would be prepared to put in my packet versus put in a bag but you have to consider the trade off between zoom and size.

We’ve looked at a few Lumix cameras in the past and this LS80 was an excellent addition to the range, especially considering it could be found for under £100!

Panasonic introduces a new Lumix digital camera, the DMC-LS80, that combines easy-to-use advanced functions and AA-battery operation convenience. A newly developed Lumix DC VARIO lens system with 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 33-100mm on a 35mm film camera) fits into its compact body and gives a clear, sharp clear image right to the edge of the picture. The CCD has been upgraded to 8.1-megapixel high resolution, so even after cropping, you will still have a high resolution picture. Both the external and internal design has been revised throughout to enhance the ease of operation.
